My initial impression of the story was that it isn't that scary as I was anticipating. Also, I thought it was hard to follow in the beginning. I'm glad we read the first few paragraphs together to understand the story better.

A story telling technique that I have seen so far in Legend of Sleepy Hollow is imagery. Example- "...schoolhouse was a low building of one large room, rudely constructed of logs; the windows partly glazed, and partly patched with leaves of old copybooks."
